Fillers – Forehead and Frown

The forehead is one of the areas of the face that loses volume with the ageing process.

This results in overactivity of the muscles which initially respond well to anti wrinkle treatments. However, with ageing, reducing muscle movement in the forehead tends to lower the eyebrows, creating a tired and heavy-eyed look, which is clearly not desirable.

In these cases, replacing reduced bony and soft tissue volume with fillers can give a far more pleasing result.

How much downtime?

Forehead filler treatment is a simple procedure with very little downtime other than bruising which is usually mild.

How long will benefits last?

This depends on several factors including the type and volume of filler used  and the individual’s metabolism. On the whole, touch-ups are required every 6-12 months.

Filler for the frown area is a far more risky procedure as important arteries run through this area and we can never be 100% sure exactly where they course.

For this reason, Dr ILANA prefers anti wrinkle treatments for the frown area. However, she is trained and experienced at using fillers for this delicate area and elects to use them in certain situations.

This will all be discussed thoroughly at the consultation.
